Celebs and the law
A review found Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies may have given preferential treatment to Mel Gibson when the movie star was arrested for driving under the influence. How should celebrities be treated when they're busted by the law?

A film star I beleave has earned the right to be given some preferential treatment. In other words why work hard for your status If it goes unnoticed by all concerened

Why shouldnt they be treated like other "normal" people? B cause they are celebrities, have more money, and r on tv doesnt make them special than other people.. Law and order means something and everybody should follow it..including the "stars".

When it comes to drinking and driving--there should be the same consequences for everyone. A celebrity can kill someone on the road as well as the non-celebrity. And the person they kill or injure could be you or a loved one...then see if it is alright for the celebrity be treated like a king or queen and be treated with preferential treatment. A drunk driver is a drunk driver and nothing else!

star struck Deputies acting like teen age girls... absurd!
remember this is the same station that murdered a sixty year old Malibu man in his sleep so they could seize his ranch.
the same station that one of it's deputies threatened to impound my meek and mild, 50 something friends car and arrest him for questioning his ticket for not wearing his seat belt.
WHERE IS THE TAPE?

Yes, celebrities should be treated differently. Just as 80 years old grandmothers should be, politicians should be, cooperative and non- violent people should be, etc. All deserve special treatment based upon the circumstances. DUI arrests have a more negative impact on some people that being arrested for murder. People have committed suicide because of the stigma associated with this type of arrest. The things you say when you are intoxicated should not specified on reports unless it is essential to the prosecution of the crime. Mel Gibson's statements were not. After 27 years in law enforcement and a substantial number of DUI arrests, I have learned that people say things when drunk that they don't really mean. I am not going to embarrass them any more that they are. Let the courts promote that process.
