What else could 'Big Brother' do to save the government money and invade your life?

"The term `nanny government' or `nanny state' is thrown around a lot," said Levine, who opposed the thermostat plan. "I don't like that term."
Levine doesn't like the term because it too accurately describes what politicians and bureaucrats are trying to achieve. Bottom line is that there is a segment of the population that either depends on government for their jobs or who depend or want government to hold their hands at everything they do. To fund both translates into sky high taxes on everything we do ... 8% here, 10% there, 1.5 there ... until there's little left for some people to do much other than pay their taxes to fund this bloated bureaucracy and its unending greed.
What else could 'Big Brother' do to save the government money and invade my life?
How about limit itself from my life and thus limit the taxes it demands from me? How about just once in a while cutting costs and reducing unnecessary bureaucracy? How about limiting all the pay raises and perks? How about doing their jobs instead of union activity? How about eliminating unions from government jobs? How about giving us the best service possible at the best value for our dollar? Gee, I'm sorry, I know that's too much to ask ...
People who want to allow the bloated and pampered bureaucracy to install these thermostats are irresponsible. If they want to cut power costs, there's plenty of fat at the utilities -- more than most places. It's not a stretch to predict that cameras in the home are the next step from goverment thermostats ... but some people will probably like that, too. I guess they don't read Orwell or European history.
