Age 8
On July 6, 2009, my family and I left Long Beach, Calif., for a two year adventure to Johannesburg, South Africa. Prior to arriving in South Africa, we had a three day layover in London. In London, we went on a double decker bus, rode in many taxis, went on the Thymes River and stopped off at the Tower of London. I also went to Kensington Palace and my mom told me all about Princess Diana. We also went on the London Eye, in which, you get a bird's eye view of the city. It was amazing. I saw Big Ben, the Parliament, and Westminster Abby. The best part of London was getting caught in the biggest hail and rainstorm I have ever witnessed. We were soaked to the bone! South Africa has been beautiful so far. We live in Dainfern in northern Johannesburg and have enjoyed meeting some new friends and my new home. I will attend the American International School of Johannesburg in August and will be starting the 3rd grade. I had to say goodbye to a lot of my great friends and family members, but I know my family and I are still together. I would like to say hello to all my friends (Nathan, Seth, Caden, Billy and Carlos) and teachers (Mrs. Hill, Mrs. Seaton and Ms. Hubbs) from Mark Twain Elementary. I would also like to say hello to the Shipley family, Ozella family, Ray family, the Mestrandrea family and to my grandma and Poppi Piechota and my Nana and Poppa Donovan. I miss you all, but look forward to seeing you in December. I love you! Ethan
