This is really a cool pet ! He is a "saved" dog I found headed south on Long Beach Blvd. 16 years ago. Buddy was about a year old at the time and was a complete mess. We couldn't find the owner....lucky for us. The first time my wife saw this critter he was up to his chin in soapy water in our bathtub. We cut a ton of hair off and found that there was indeed a dog in there. For an American Cocker Spaniel, with all it's inherent problems, he has been a very healthy little guy and eats like a horse even yet. He was easy to train and never gave us any problems. He rode with us over the Rubicon trail in our Jeep twice and was at home in camps with other dogs and kids. We had to remove his right eye because of severe pain caused by glaucoma and once that was done he was just like a puppy again. Time has since blinded his other eye and he is deaf, but it is amazing how he finds his way around the house. Outside, however, he has to be watched as he reverts to his old ways, and follows his perfectly working nose to far away places.
