It's hard to tell where one dog ends and the other begins. This is Maggie and Bailey doing what they do best. Both are Golden Retrievers. Maggie, the dog on the right is a Therapy Dog and works in the BARK (Beach Animals Reading with Kids) AAA program in Long Beach Unified School District. This program has the kids reading to dogs to help their reading skills and self confidence.

What Andrew Nipp has accomplished in one year can take some of us a lifetime to accomplish, if ever. He took an intern job for experience with no pay, working nights at a computer sho. His first night on job as he was leaving for home, he was jumped outside the business. He took some blows to the head. Luckily his dad showed up and the man took off. Mom wanted him to quit work; but not Andrew, he hasn't missed a single night of work since he started; in fact he pressures mom to get him to work on time.
In school, Andrew's in Advance T.V. Production; he was awarded two certificates for Student of the Month and an Achievement Award. He and a fellow classmate submitted a video to a organization called "Skills USA." Their video "Technology in Education," won them first place in Regional competition which qualified them for The State Championship in San Diego. They represent Warren High School and scored second place in the State. Pretty impressive stuff!
On his first try, Andrew passed the California High School Exit Exam with high scores. The icing on the cake, he finished the school year with a report card of four A's and two B's.
Great Job Andrew! Your family is very proud of you and so grateful you're a "Good-Teen." We realize it's not easy being a teenager, Thank-you from Andrew's family.

Cerritos residents Terry and Sue Andrews brought along their Press-Telegram to New York to see the sites with family and friends. Here we are in front of the Ellis Island building where Sue's parents along with aunts, uncles and cousins immigrated from England in the 1920s. While on the island Sue found the manifest on which they were documented. That was definitely a highlight.

Cool Pets and more Cool Pets

My Cool Pet Theodore Joseph Tomas, "Theo" came to our family by way of a co-worker of my daughter. He and his sister had been dropped off at a neighbor who was unable to care for him. In the meanwhile, he developed Parvo and the wonderful neighbors pitched in for his expensive care. It shows the very best in people caring for an abandoned pet. He is now healthy and happy and is a source of much happiness for us all.

This is the story of a little bird that fell from his tree. To our dismay, out of nowhere comes a crouching cat ready to pounce! Of course we had to rescue the little guy. He was soooo ugly - hardly enough feathers to cover his little body. But was he demanding. We had to feed him every 20 to 30 minutes. Within days he was able to sit on a perch where he immediately started to chirp his life away. One week later he flourished to the cute little "Birdie" you see with our "Brewsky." Unfortunately, we had vacation plans and so reluctantly we turned him over the SEACCA. There the ladies took to him quickly as he pranced and chirped for all to see. We were told he still needed about two more weeks before he would be able to fly on his own. They promised to care for him until he is able to fly the coop.

These beautiful kitties are my feline daughters, Natasha Garland and Katharine (Kate) Davis, who I named after four of my favorite actresses. They are biological sisters I adopted when they were seven weeks old. They turned 5-years-old in April. They enjoy watching the ducks that live in the complex and chasing each other up and down the stairs. As with true sisters, there are squabbles, but then they cuddle up for a long nap.

This is our dog "Charley," a 140 pound, 3-year-ol, black Newfoundland Dog. The breed is described as the Gentle Giant, although many relate him to a bear. His admirers call him one-of-a-kind, amazing, fabulous, unbelieveable as well as beautiful. Charley is a loving, loveable and devoted dog. He can be playful or subdued.
Charley and his owner Richard can be seen walking the city streets, at the shopping mall and parks. It's not unusual to hear, "Hi, Charley." from the tennis and basketball courts and baseball fields. He gets along well with other dogs, kids and adults.
This dog is a joy to own and to share with others. I wish we had a nickel for every picture that has been taken of him.
