From September 16 through 28, Tomiko Paronto of La Palma and Gretchen Cacciotti of Lakewood traveled to South Africa. We spent several days in Johannesburg, took safari drives in Kruger National Park, visited Swaziland, drove along the Indian Ocean in KwaZulu Natal and flew to Cape Town. Here we are at the top of Table Mountain in Cape Town.
Our family vacationed in Israel last summer and visited the Dead Sea. Here we are floating in the Dead Sea.Submitted by Gerhard and Monica Gross.
Local high school volleyball players Skyler McCoy, Saint John Bosco (left), and Erik Reed, Long Beach Wilson, were fortunate enough to be among ten boys and girls chosen from throughout the nation to represent the USA in the sport of beach volleyball in a bi-lateral exchange with the Russian youth beach volleyball program. Despite being in Moscow during the fires and record high temperatures, the boys had the trip of a lifetime.Highlights of their trip included training with Misty May-Treanor in Moscow, touring the Kremlin, attending a state department dinner at the U. S. Embassy in Moscow, training and competing at the Olympic volleyball training center in Anapa and the friendships they made with the Russian athletes and coaches.
Mark Nowick of Long Beach and Children's book author James Daos of Long Beach on a trip promoting his Book Series, "Ants on the Rainbow ...You'll never know." A story of a colony of ants who master the art of surfing!James and Mark visited local surf shops and book stores on the island of Oahu, from Jan 14 to Jan 23. Here they are at Sandy's Beach after a long day of sharing the book series in Kailua.
