Here I am after kayaking down the Hanalei River on the north shore of Kauai, then paddling in the open ocean to a lovely beach near the Princeville Resort. After snorkeling with my wife and two daughters, I suggested we take a family portrait with the Press-Telegram. Strangely, I was the only one who agreed to be photographed. The rock formation in the background is the vision of "Bali Hai," immortalized in the wonderful film "South Pacific."
