I want to share with all, the 65th Anniversary of two wonderful people, my mother and father, Dr. Wendel Howard and Evelyn Jane Davis.Dad was born in California, the only son of Lorena and Howard Davis. Mom was born in Michigan the only daughter of Edna and Leman Cruice. The two became college sweethearts at USC. Dec. 11, 1945 was the day these two "tied the knot." Their theme song, "They Tried To Tell Us We're Too Young," was playing, their hearts were beating, and today, the great love they have shared should be captured to spread the world over!
Thank goodness their parents didn't wash their hands of them. They chose instead to help them wash their clothes.
The union took, and succeeding generations followed in a similar pattern; that is, don't waist too much time courting.
Thus Grandma Janie and Papa got busy spreading their special love to two children, David (me) and my brother Chris. We, along with our spouses, Didi and Karlean, brought five more children; Paul, Jennifer, Shawn, Troy, and Garrett, into our lives to love. Paul married Erin and brought fourth generation children, Sierra and Alexandra into the fold. Jennifer married Allan and two more, Ashley and Nicole came. Troy married Leslie and brought beautiful little Harper Cruice into the love.
`Then, as their song goes, "someday they may recall, we were not too young at all."

Frank and Rosemary Herendeen welcomed seventy family members and friends to their home, the "Cinderella" house, to help celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. The Herendeens were married in Lakewood, California on March 6, 1960. They have two adult children Amy Vaughan and Lee Herendeen, and three grandchildren; Jeremy Vaughn, and Reed and Elle Herendeen.
The couple met when they began attending Long Beach State College, but didn't start dating until Rosemary was a senior. Frank worked as a buyer for the Broadway Hale Store Chain. After they married, they lived for three years in Eugene, Oregon before moving back to Long Beach where Frank got his teaching credentials. He taught elementary school in Buena Park. Rosemary also got her teaching credentials and became a teacher for the ABC Unified School District.
The couple lived in Long Beach and Orange until their move to Redlands in 1998. They realized their dream of owning an antique home when Jon and Lynette Harrison sold them their home on Olive Avenue. After eight years of restoration, the home was completed and they are still enjoying their wonderful "find."
Frank and Rosemary are both active in the Redlands community. They believe they have found the perfect city for retirement and enjoyment.

Evelyn Robertson attended her Sunday School Beach Party and was swept off her feet by Royce Ehle. Today they still hold hands, are still very much in love and are celebrating 70 years of marriage. The First Pentecostal Church at 10th St. and California Avenue, in Long Beach was having a beach party, Royce spotted a beautiful young lady trying to get sand off her feet, so he swept her off her feet, and carried her down to the water and back. The rest is music.
Evelyn graduated from Poly High School Jan 25, 1940. Two days later she and Royce were married by Brother Jeffery "behind Hansen's Market" in her aunt and uncle's home, Ruth and Ellis Robertson.
Royce worked for Frank Bros. Furniture on 4th Street delivering furniture making $16 a week.
They celebrated Sunday January 24.
Their original cake top will again adorn their anniversary cake, surrounded by family and many friends. One friend Marshall Julian, a former city manger of Lakewood, went to kindergarten with Royce. Gene Miller, a comedian, formerly of Long Beach, will give a toast and entertain in his usually jocular style. Their daughter Sharon will be singing their special song: Irving Berlins' "Always."
Royce and Evelyn say always "talking things over" is the key to a happy marriage. They have lived in Long Beach their entire married life.

The sons, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Berch and Becky Parker would like to honor them in celebration of their 65 years of marriage.A young handsome pilot in his Navy uniform and a beautiful Florida girl in a gorgeous lavender suit were joined together on December 12, 1945. They moved from Florida to California soon after they took their vows in a simple civil service.
The pilot became a tool design engineer and the beautiful girl became a wife and mother to a growing family. They saved their money to buy a house. They worked hard to provide for their family. The mother handmade most of the clothes, the father became a VERY handy man. No dinners out, no babysitters, no extras.
They were finally able to buy a house in the Los Altos area of Long Beach. The kids kept coming for the next 20 years. At final count there were ten; and soon after came the first grandchild. All through the years, due to great budgeting, the couple managed to take the children across the country on the most fantastic camping road trips. What fun we had, getting rained on, cooking outside, roughing it with no tent, and breaking in to a locked campground.
The couple still lives in that house. They have seen a lot of changes in the world and reflected in the lives of their children.
At this juncture, there are nine kids (having lost the eldest daughter to cancer), sixteen (16) grandchildren, and seven (7) great-grandchildren. We are so proud to be the descendants of these two hardworking, loving, generous human beings. They have taught us so much; from, how to ride a bike to patching up a scrape; from car repair to bread baking; from math to sewing; from friendship to love.
We adore and honor them, today and always.
