The War at Home

| | Comments (0) |

While "The Ground Truth," the documentary about Iraq War vets' difficulties readjusting to civilian life that opened this weekend, is hardly as apolitical as some of its press materials claim (director Patricia Foulkrod doesn't like that war), the movie's website offers an invaluable set of links to veterans aid organizations.

They're conveniently divided into non-partisan, advocacy, faith-based and student (i.e., anti-war) groupings, so whatever your political leanings, you should be able to find some outfit that's reaching out to our returning military personnel in a way that you can get behind.

As is the case with every war, Iraq is creating a huge number of both physically and emotionally traumatized survivors, and as "The Ground Truth" unmistakbly points out, the government's ability to care for them is sorely inadequate. Helping them in any manner one sees fit is something every American should think about.
