Cultural Learnings Go Backward Ways: American Election Goes Borat!

Can anyone really tell if John Kerry was dissing the troops or just the Bush Administration when he made this comment about how bad students end up in Iraq?
I know I'm not sure which take to buy. And I doubt that any correct thinking American does.
But I know someone who might. How about that Borat, Sacha Baron Cohen's fake Kazakh reporter whose virulent ethnic and sexist put-downs are, according to his apologists, actually subversive satires of intolerant attitudes. I bet Borat - or, if he's ever willing to speak for himself, Cohen - could cut through the spin and tell us exactly what Kerry really meant.
Until that happens, though, I guess Borat can be pleased that his cultural influence has become so pervasive in America that our politicians are even copying it.
