Weekend Boxoffice Whacked

Martin Scorsese's critically acclaimed "The Departed" handily beat the latest brain-amputing "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" episode for the top-grossing spot. And according to this report, at least, the star-studded cops-and-criminals caper drew in equal amounts of under and over 25-year-old viewers.
I could make my usual fake/credulous joke about being at a movie when the memo came out about young, tasteless and bloodthristy moviegoers learning to appreciate first class acting, expertly dense writing and the highest levels of cinematic craftsmanship.
But y'know, "Departed" probably has a bigger and bloodier bodycount than "Chainsaw," more profanity than a dozen R-rated comedies and Jack Nicholson doing things that even the "Jackass" crew would be embarrassed to try.
Isn't it great how Marty is still a great artist and can think so young, too?
