Method Fest Award Winners
This was a very fun film festival in the West Valley, with a perfect balance of friendly, local intimacy and cosmopolitan sophistication.

ANGARANO, TAYLOR-COMPTON WIN TOP ACTING HONORS AT THE9TH ANNUAL THE METHOD FEST INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL
• Black Irish Takes City of Calabasas Award For Best Picture
April 5, 2007 (Calabasas, CA) Michael Angarano won the Time Warner Cable John Garfierld Best Actor Award for his performance in Black Irish, and Scout Taylor-Compton took home the Charter Communications Geraldine Page Award for Best Actress for her role in Tomorrow is Today, as the 9th annual The Method Fest independent film festival announced its winners at the Awards Ceremony, Thursday night at Viewpoint School’s Carlson Family Theatre in Calabasas.
“This year we had so many great performances that the judges really had a tough time deciding the award winners," stated Don Franken, the festival's executive director. "A large number of high quality films with outstanding acting made it the most competitive acting competition ever. What defined this year’s festival was the emergence of so many talented young actors and filmmakers," Franken added.
The City of Calabasas Best Picture Award winner is Black Irish, directed by Brad Gann and starring Angarano, Brendan Gleeson, Tom Guiry and Melissa Leo.
The Christie Digital Audience Award for Best Picture, was presented to Destiny, directed by Vage Khacatryan, produced by Haig Bagerdjian and Kolya Khachaturov, and starring Gor Vardanyan, Yevgeni Kamash and Svetlana Jukova.
The Daily Variety Award for Best Supporting Actress Award in a feature film went to Dagmara Dominczyk, (Mentor), and the Standard Pacific Homes Award for Best Supporting Actor went to Tom Guiry, (Black Irish).
Jim Loftus, who directed Trade Routes, was awarded the Modern VideoFilm Best Director Award.
The Daily News Best Screenplay Award winner was David Gow, for Steel Toes. Gow also co-directed the film.
The Prudential California Realty Best Ensemble Cast Award was presented to the cast of Man in the Chair, directed by Michael Schroeder and starring Christopher Plummer, Michael Angarano, M. Emmet Walsh and Robert Wagner.
The Corona Maverick Award for high quality in low budget filmmaking and unique vision went to the Australian film Plum Role, written, directed and helmed by Zak Hilditch.

The Wexler TV Award for Best Actress in a Short -- Sharon Lawrence, (Fool Me Once).
The Enterprise Rent-a Car-Award for Best Student Short -- Deface (director John Arlotto).
The Country Inn & Suites by Carlson Audience Award, Short Film – Rushers (director Joey Boukadakis).
The LA Auto Gallery Ferrari Maserati Festival Director’s Award for Excellence – Man in the Chair (director Michael Schroeder).
