I Am Not Kirk

Talking to Matt Damon the other day, we mentioned that director JJ Abrams is supposed to announce casting for his Star Trek prequel movie at the San Diego Comic Con this week.
"Oh, really?" the star of next month's "Bourne Ultimatum" asked guilelessly, then quickly realized what we were getting at.
"No, I'm not in it. In fact, I talked to JJ because the rumors were so voracious. But that's the Internet for you. In fact, I saw somewhere that William Shatner actually came out and made a statement that he thought I would be a good Captain Kirk. That was terrific, that was my big thrill.
"But no, the movie from what I understand is about them young, just coming out of Starfleet Academy. I'm about 15 years too old to play the part.
"But this one, I'm sure, will be wildly successful. And if JJ does the next one and it's set 10 years later, maybe I could have my chance."
