Marion Cotillard Plays to the Crowd

Believe it or not, this is the first French-language performance that’s ever won an Academy Award. I think the fact that Cotillard worked the pre-Oscars Hollywood circuit with an uneraseable smile on her face might have had something to do with it, but heck, it was a technically astounding performance that really showed off the work. Christie was subtler and Page was more adorable, but let’s face it - neither of them seemed all that interested in winning. French girl definitely did. Chalk one up for campaining your heart out.
She started sinigng in the backstage press room, too.
