Reign hit 2,000 season tickets

Looks like there is a market for minor-league hockey in the Inland Empire, after all.

The Ontario Reign announced Tuesday that the 2,000th season ticket to Citizens Business Bank Arena has been sold. Not bad for a team that hasn’t played a game and has just one player and a head coach under contract, in a market that hasn’t had a professional hockey team, ever — AND in a stadium that hasn’t been built yet!

From the official press release:

Eighty-one days mark the calendar until the Ontario Reign make their official home debut in the new state-of-the-art Citizens Business Bank Arena on October 25. In a market that has been craving local entertainment, the Reign are on their way to providing one of the best family-affordable activities in town.

With over 2,100 season tickets sold to date, the Reign currently sit as one of the top members of the ECHL in regards to season ticket sales for the 2008-09 season. As the first-ever professional sports team in Ontario, Calif., the Reign have gathered tremendous support from the Inland Empire communities. Local businesses have purchased season tickets to use as client entertainment options, while many families are using their seats as a way to see up-and-coming NHL stars at an affordable price.

“Season ticket sales have been great thus far,” Director of Ticket Sales James Collins said. “Selling over 2,100 season tickets in only five months is a great accomplishment. With fewer than 90 days until our first home game, there are less than 150 club seats remaining and only 24 glass seats available. We are expanding our ticket staff starting this upcoming week and we are confident that we will have one of the largest fan bases in the entire ECHL. ”

Ontario Reign Full season tickets begin at $332, mini-plans start at only $99 and single-game tickets begin at $10. All season tickets include parking and access to thirty-six home games. Season ticket holders get a ticket to see every minute of the hard-hitting, fast action of Ontario Reign hockey and receive benefits including a “Vacation Exchange” program that allows them to exchange unused season tickets for additional tickets to future games. In addition, they will receive an online account manager to forward tickets to friends, family or business clients and the opportunity to participate in a post game skate to meet all of their favorite players.
