Reign: Francisco suspended one game, fined.

The Reign will play without Jon Francisco tomorrow night in Victoria, as the ECHL announced the captain will be suspended for the game and fined an undisclosed amount of money for high-sticking the Salmon Kings’ Darryl Lloyd last night.

The infraction occurred at at 8:45 of the third period, and immediately fetched a match penalty and a five-minute major. As described by Cleve Dheensaw of the Victoria Times Colonist, “Darryl Lloyd was his usual spinning, clanging, banging self. Jon Francisco of Ontario retaliated with a high stick on Lloyd.”

The official ECHL release notes that “under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund.”
