Reign: Spooner update.

Doug Spooner’s 10-day amateur tryout agreement expired yesterday with the Reign, and the rookie out of the University of Waterloo didn’t sign a standard ECHL player contract.

However, coach Karl Taylor said he has applied for the necessary immigration paperwork to allow Spooner (and rookie goaltender Linden Rowat) to be employed in the U.S., which suggests that contracts could be in their future. Even if that’s not the case, it’s a positive step for a couple young guys looking to take the next step in their career.
