Martens, Knapp returning to Reign.

Dan Knapp and Andrew Martens are returning to the Reign blue line in 2009-10.

Knapp, 27, recorded four goals, 19 points and 82 penalty minutes in 58 games for the Reign last season.

“I played with a great group of guys last season, and I think we have a quality chance at a championship,” said Knapp in a statement. “The fan support that the team gets is great in Ontario.”

Martens, 28, scored the first goal in club history, in Bakersfield on Oct. 18, 2008. In 48 games with the Reign, the defenseman had seven goals and 31 points Martens also had stints with the Manitoba Moose and Toronto Marlies of the AHL last season, picking up one goal and 10 assists for 11 points in 27 games.

They join returning defensemen David Walker, Chad Starling and Shawn Germain, and newcomer Brian Kilburg on the 2009-10 blue line.
