Reign get Peralta from Kalamazoo for Jon Landry. Updates.

The Reign have found a trade partner for Jon Landry, acquiring forward Sal Peralta from the Kalamazoo Wings on Saturday for the disgruntled defenseman.

Peralta, 26, played against Karl Taylor’s University of Waterloo squad in 2004-05 as a freshman at the University of Western Ontario, where he played from 2004-09. The 6-2, 200-pound forward  was the Mustangs’ leading scorer three out of his five years in college.

Peralta has split his first professional season between the IHL’s Quad City Mallards, and the expansion Wings, where he had four goals and 15 points in 19 games. Peralta was held scoreless in two games with Quad City.

He was in the Bakersfield Condors’ camp to begin the season but was squeezed out by the needs of the NHL-affiliate Ducks, who are without an AHL partner this season. Here’s the report in the Bakersfield Californian at the time of Peralta’s release:

The Condors released forward Sal Peralta Friday morning to open a roster spot for Dan Sexton. Sexton arrived in Bakersfield on Thursday evening and was officially assigned to the team by the Ducks on Friday. Sexton, who led Bowling Green in goals and points as a sophomore last season will make his pro debut tonight.

“Sal is a top two line type of player,”  Condors coach Marty Raymond said, noting all of those roles were filled. “Circumstances are what they are.”

Four players assigned by the Ducks are on the top two lines.

ECHL All-Star referees chosen.

The ECHL has announced its referees and linesmen for the ECHL All-Star Game on Jan. 20 at The Bank: Geno Binda has been selected as the referee and Todd Owen and Paul Reid have been chosen to be the linesmen.

From the ECHL:

In his first season in the ECHL in 2008-09, Binda worked a league-high 77 regular season games and 10 games in the Kelly Cup Playoffs including Games 3 and 5 of the Kelly Cup Finals. He is working in both the ECHL and the American Hockey League in 2009-10.

Reid is in his third season with the ECHL and has worked almost 200 regular season games while being chosen to work the Kelly Cup Playoffs every year including the Kelly Cup Finals in 2009.

Since beginning to work for the ECHL in 2003, Owen has officiated more than 350 regular season games and been chosen to work the Kelly Cup Playoffs 6 years and has also worked the Kelly Cup Finals in 2008.

Alaska 6, Reign 3.

David Walker scored twice, and Greg Hogeboom once, but the Reign extended their losing streak to five games with a loss in Anchorage.

The Reign got no closer than one goal, when Walker made it 3-2 at 3:54 of the third period, off assists from Shawn Germain and Mike Howe. Alaska responded with goals by Eric Boguniecki, John Lammers and Justin Johnson. Walker closed the scoring with 30 seconds left in the game, off assists from Germain and Rob Pearce.

The Reign play at Bakersfield on Saturday. Curtis Darling stopped 25 of 31 shots in the loss.
