ECHL playoffs begin today.

The Stockton Thunder and Alaska Aces are kicking off the Kelly Cup playoffs with a first-round game tonight in Wasilla, AK (8:35 p.m. Pacific).

Here are the complete first-round matchups:

National Conference Quarterfinals (best of 5):

#4 Utah vs. #5 Las Vegas
#3 Alaska vs. #6 Stockton

#2 Bakersfield vs. #7 Victoria

#1 Idaho receives a bye

American Conference Quarterfinals (best of 5):

#1 Charlotte vs. #8 Toledo
#4 South Carolina vs. #5 Cincinnati
#3 Elmira vs. #6 Florida
#2 Kalamazoo vs. #7 Reading

    Looking over the playoff pairings, I think it’ll be Utah, Alaska, and Bakersfield advancing to the quarterfinals in the National Conf. Haven’t seen much of the teams out east, but South Carolina is the defending champion. Ought to be a great series between the Stingrays and Cyclones. JMTCW.
