As A Noise Within (ANW), the acclaimed classical repertory theatre company, says farewell to Glendale, it is cleaning house before moving to its new home in Pasadena this fall and will hold a huge garage sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 13 at the Glendale location.

The sale will feature discounts on scenery, props, costumes, wigs, furniture, lighting and lighting equipment, curtains, fabric, seating and more.

The Glendale location has been ANW's home for the last 19 years. Now, the company is in the final stretch of a $13.5 million capital campaign for its anticipated 33,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art venue in Pasadena, set to open Oct. 29. Tax deductible donations for the capital campaign will also be accepted during the garage sale.

Admission is $2. Cash is preferred for purchases but credit cards will be accepted with a minimum purchase and subject to a service charge.

If your friends haven't yet turned you on to Groupon, maybe they're not such great friends.

The Festival of Brides, Upscale Bridal Show made its tenth appearance at The Langham, Huntington in Pasadena this last Sunday -- and it was an afternoon to remember.

Being a fairly new bride-to-be, I've only been to one other bridal show, but as I entered the Huntington Ballroom at the Langham on Sunday, I could easily see why there was such a steep entrance fee ($35).

Taste champion Wisconsin cheeses, and watch The Cheese Lady create a stampede of crashing helmets for this year's big game rivals, the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts, out of super-sized cheeses.

The lineup of mammoth Wisconsin cheeses includes 22-pound to 150-pound Cheddar "linemen" and Sartori Raspberry Belavitano as the "taste-backer."

Let the cheese-sculpting begin, today, Feb. 5, and Saturday, Feb. 6, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at  Bristol Farms Supermarket, 606 Fair Oaks Ave., South Pasadena.

The Festival of Brides -- The Upscale Bridal Show, makes its 10th annual appearance at The Langham Huntington in Pasadena this Sunday with a variety of vendors and a special bridal gown runway show scheduled.

From event planning services to displays from floral designers and a peak at live entertainment to caterers' food tastings, the festival hopes to offer everything a future bride will need, and want of course, for her dream day.

To make this show truly upscale, the Haute Couture Bridal Fashion Runway show will feature the 2010 bridal and evening gown collection by Ines Di Santo, courtesy of Jobyna's Bridal Salon, and a special guest appearance by the designer herself.

A grand door prize of a trip to Divi Carina Resort, St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, will also be up for grabs.
