When the Tournament of Roses this morning announced Paula Deen as Grand Marshal of the 2011 Rose Parade, we just knew she’d bring the goods — the baked goods.
Take a gander at the sugar rose-petal cake she whipped up for the occasion.
The members of the Royal Court keep their eyes trained on that delectable prize, in the photo at top.

And the Star-News reports Deen is already serving up suggestions for your New Year’s Day party platter:
“Let me tell you, praline French toast, it’s out of this world, killer,” she said. “And some egg cups with Bearnaise sauce, or any kind of sauce.”
Check out the photo gallery from the Grand Marshal announcement.

ANSWER: Pasadena City Hall. More photos here.
Students at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Pasadena are building a very special confection that, when finished, will be a cake-and-icing replica of a local structure.
Can you guess which it will be?
(Hint: It’s not actually a house. The headline is just a clever diversion.)

Festival of Brides: The Upscale Bridal Show

>>GO

The Festival of Brides, Upscale Bridal Show made its tenth appearance at The Langham, Huntington in Pasadena this last Sunday — and it was an afternoon to remember.

Being a fairly new bride-to-be, I’ve only been to one other bridal show, but as I entered the Huntington Ballroom at the Langham on Sunday, I could easily see why there was such a steep entrance fee ($35).

These beautiful displays by Luna Party Rentals provided some of the decorative and lighting displays in the foyer entrance to the ballroom.
