Ahead of her book-signing appearance next week at Vroman’s in Pasadena, former first lady Laura Bush appeared on “Oprah” yesterday to talk about the release of her new memoir, “Spoken from the Heart.”
She talked with Oprah
about her involvement in a 1963 fatal car crash, in which a teenage Bush ran a stop sign in Midland, Texas, and slammed into another car. The crash claimed the life of her high-school classmate, who was in the other car. Bush writes about the fallout from the accident in her book.
Bush also talked on the show about her romance with future President George W. Bush — the couple dated for just three months before getting married — and about being in the White House during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Vroman’s staff tweeted yesterday
about the Secret Service, which visited the bookstore to make preparations for Bush’s Tuesday appearance.
Tuesday, May 11, signing at 1 p.m., guests must be in line by 11:30 a.m., Vroman’s Bookstore, 695 E. Colorado Blvd.
Last Thursday was a good one for celebrity sightings — and signings — in Pasadena.
was doling out fashion tips at Kate Spade in the One Colorado complex, and Raquel Welch was signing copies of her book “Raquel: Beyond the Cleavage” at Vroman’s Bookstore.
is partly Welch’s own autobiography — beyond the surface image of enduring sex symbol — and partly her philosophical take on topics like love, sex, style, health, body image, career, family, forgiveness and aging.
