Local ski resorts could get a foot and a half of new snow

Local ski resorts are looking for up to a foot and half of new snow from today’s storm. So the next couple days could be amazing.

The Big Bear resorts had an amazing
start to the season and this will just push them to the next level.

Bear Mountain says its feature count right now is at 50 jibs, 37 snow features, and a
standard halfpipe. These are set all over the resort. They have them on Amusement Park, Learning Curve, Easy
Street, Hidden Valley, Central Park, and all over Chair 9/Park Run.

Mountain High adds 12 new jibs in Wrightwood

Mountain High is open until 10 pm with night skiing tonight from 5 to 10 pm. The Wrightwood resort reports it is bursting at the seams with new features.

Last night, they completely
rebuilt Lower Chisolm and the Playground adding 12 new jibs including
the Spool and a 8 foot Wallride in the Playground, and the Kinked Box,
the Down Flat Down Box, the Down Flat Down rail and more to Lower
Chisolm.

Creekside and Sunnyside are packed with beginner features as
well so check out all that is new at Mountain High.

Snow Summit opens Chair 9 to Sundown Family Fun Zone

Snow Summit reports that Chair 9 accessing Cruiser and the Sundown Family Fun Zone is now open. There are a total 16 jibs and 4 snow features, including skill builder features, on Upper Westridge and Zzyxz. 

Chair 7
and the east side of the mountain is also open, accessing Log Chute
top-to-bottom, Lower Timber Ridge and 7-Down! 

Snow Summit is enjoying sunny skies,
very good coverage, and the most open terrain in Southern California.

There are now 16 available lifts at Snow Summit and Bear Mountain. They will open even more  runs and lifts with continued snowmaking.

Bear Mountain to host USASA rail jam on Sunday

Want
to compete? Bear Mountain will hold a USASA rail jam on Sunday, Dec. 11.
USASA point-rated events can lead to a direct
seed into the USASA National Championships set for Copper Mountain,
Colorado in March 31 through April 11, 2012.

Simply win your age
division and an invitation is yours! USASA offers 26 different age
divisions (13 for men and 13 for women). Skiers are invited to
participate and earn an invitation to the Nationals for Halfpipe,
Slopestyle, and SkierCross.

Event Information

  • Our Event registration is held at Bear Mountain in the Cafeteria, if
    our event is at Snow Summit registration is held at the Bear Bottom
    Lodge in the VIP room.
  • Registration begins at 8:00 am and is open ’til 9:30 am the morning of the event.
  • Coarse inspection/ or practice is from 9:45 to 10:15.
  • Riders meeting is approximately at 10:30.
  • Event cost is $25.00
  • Competitor lift tickets are $25.00 (You don’t need a ticket, if you already have a pass).
  • Helmets are required for all USASA point rated events.
  • Age groups for men and women from 7 and under  to 70 and over

  • The
    2011 – 2012 Season features Snowboard and Freestyle Skiing events in
    Half-pipe, Slopestyle and Boardercross and Snowboard only Alpine (SG
    & SL) contests! Check back for updates. Our
    sport is all about progression and We’re going to do our part to offer
    our members the opportunity to compete in a series that can make that
    happen
    .

Mountain High pumping out the snow, yeah!!!

Mountain High ski resort in Wrightwood reports that it has been able to pump out more than 36 hours of snowmaking and is still going.

There’s several inches of new snow on all open runs and open until 10pm, so you’ve got all day to come get some awesome machine made packed powder!

Please dress warm as the winds and continued snowmaking will make conditions a lot cooler than normal.

The park is flowing really well right now with more than 30 features spread top to bottom, including the new Tabletop Jump on Borderline. Beginner park riders check out our new Progression Park on Sunnyside with two jumps, a 20ft flat box, the Dance Pad, another flat box, a bazooka tube, and a 10ft flat bar.
