Mountain High hosts Active Grudge Match

Active Grudge Match is happening today at Mountain High Ski Resort. This event is
invite only, but there’s definitely some rad competition
going on.

The
Wedge is closed to general public during contest hours. Operating hours are 8:30am to 10pm at the West Resort. The East Resort is not
open today but will reopen this Saturday, Sunday, & Monday for the
MLK holiday.

Why not run up for a rad night session from 5pm to 10pm. Up to 7 lifts will be available today accessing terrain for all ages
and abilities. Coverage is good with a 12 to 36 inch base of machine
groomed snow and all open trails have been groomed.

Big Bear Mountain Resorts offer great deal for beginners

January is National Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month! In
partnership with the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA), Snow Summit
and Bear Mountain will be offering FREE rentals to first time
beginners, ages 8 and older, who register for a beginner lesson package
throughout the month of January.

 

“You are never too old to learn to ski or snowboard, and this program
is the perfect way for those who have not yet had a chance to
experience the excitement of snow sports to get a great deal,” said
Chris Riddle, Vice President of Marketing for Big Bear Mountain
Resorts.  “We are offering free rentals in January to encourage those
that have yet to try skiing or snowboarding to get on the slopes.”

 

With lesson packages beginning at $49, learning to ski and snowboard

The “Big” Deal                    

This is our best value beginner package. This package includes 4
hours of instruction (2 hours a.m. and 2 hours p.m.), a beginner lift
ticket on your first day and for your next visit a Beyond Beginner
package which includes an all-mountain lift ticket and 2 hours of
instruction (a.m. or p.m.) valid during any non-peak day and non-holiday.

 

4-Hour Value Package

This 4-hour package includes 4 hours of instruction on the same day
(2 hours a.m. and 2 hours p.m.), a beginner lift ticket and a
“Continuing Education Coupon” worth $10 off the price of a Beyond
Beginner Package.

 

2-Hour Package

This 2-hour package includes a beginner lift ticket and a 2-hour

Big Bear Mountain Resorts offering free rentals for beginners

January is learn to snow sport month and Big Bear Mountain Resorts are Southern California’s Learn to Ski and Ride
Headquarters.

In partnership with the National Ski Areas Association
(NSAA), Snow Summit and Bear Mountain are offering FREE rentals
(up to a $20 savings) to first time beginners ages 8 and older who
purchase a beginner lesson package throughout the month of January
except January 14-16.

Nike riders compete for $3,000 at Mountain High

Ten of Nike’s top riders will be converging on Mountain High
on Friday, Jan. 6, for the only Southern California stop in its winter
Chosen series.  The event takes place from 5 to 9pm and is FREE to
anyone with a lift ticket or season pass. 

Riders will be compete on Mountain High’s “Playground” jib park
for more than $3,000 in cash and prizes on the line.  the
NIKE production includes tons of lights, smoke, music and action.  DJ Slipmat
will be rockin the ones & twos and Vonzipper’s GT is scheduled to
work the mic.

The course includes three separate Quarterpipes
strung together by two, large corrugated tubes, Nike’s signature rainbow
box painted by madsteez.com, a large stair set, and a cement down
ledge. 

Registration begins at 2pm in the West base lodge but this event is FREE so get here early.  You must be 18 years or older to compete and HELMETS ARE REQUIRED.

Unlikely feature contest set Saturday at Bear Mountain

Bear Mountain has more than 100 features and new ones are popping up on the
regular. Everyone has their favorite feature but it’s linking them all
together that makes the moutain fun.

In a few days, they will have the
Superpipe ready, so you can start looking forward to that.

The Analog Design Unlikely Feature contest is this Saturday when they will reveal the winning feature and have a jam on all three
Design Unlikely Features. This contest is free to all riders with a
2011-12 season pass or lift ticket.

Registration is from 8 to 10 a.m., with the contest starting around 10:30/11:00. You definitely want to come
shred this new feature. It’s the best Design Unlikely Feature to date!

Mt. High offers beginner snowboarding clinic for women

Tired of hanging with the guys?  The Women’s Beginner Snowboarding
Clinics at Mountain High teach in a way that is supportive and
nurturing, by female instructors who know what it’s like to learn as a
woman. 

Lessons address pre-conditioning exercises, finding the right
equipment, choosing appropriate clothing, overcoming fears, and much
more. 

Refined over four years, these lessons are taught by certified
female instructors and tailored to women’s unique learning styles to
ensure rapid improvement and the refinement of techniques. Lessons are
$135 for a 3-hour session and offered daily from 8am to 11am.

Learning to ski or snowboard is as easy as 1…2…3 with the 3-Peat For
Success from Mountain High.  History has shown that beginners need at
least three lessons to truly feel comfortable on the hill so Mountain
High designed the 3-Peat program to take guests from never-evers to all
mountain riders in three easy steps. 

For just $129 the 3-Peat For
Success consists of three separate beginner packages that can be
completed any three days of the season, non-holiday*.  Each package
includes an 8-hour lower-mountain lift ticket, complete ski or snowboard
rentals, and a 1 hour and 45 minute lesson. 

With each day, the
instruction  advances one level, and guests can upgrade to an
all-mountain ticket for just $12 after the 2nd and 3rd lessons.  As an
incentive to finish, participants receive a FREE 8-hour, all-mountain
