Avila-Mott named Diamond Bar’s hero at county fair

Serena Avila-Mott was honored last week at the Los Angeles County Fair as one of Diamond Bar’s community heroes. She was nominated by Pamela Robinson, a member of the city ‘s fair committee.

“Serena is a wonderfully talented young lady. At 27 years old, she has accomplished more than many adults twice her age. She is passionate about reaching out to help those who are less fortunate and those who have been marginalized by society.

” She has taken her passion for working with special needs and under-served children from Diamond Bar to a third world country. Serena has also gone back to her former schools and volunteered, serving in various roles….

“She is the youngest member of the Diamond Bar Women’s Club and has already demonstrated she is not afraid of taking on a variety of responsibilities in the club. She will be serving as membership chair…

“She is on the cutting edge of ushering in a new wave of volunteers who grew up in Diamond Bar, and are paying it forward… Serena is also proving that she understands the benefit and value of serving her community and truly enjoys giving back.”
