Winemaker dinner casts Long Shadows over Mammoth Mountain

Executive Chef Marc Mora and a selection of California’s top
wineries invite you to a meritage of Winemaker Dinners in
spectacular settings on and around Mammoth Mountain.  The next will be held on May 4 when Long Shadows Winery will be featured.

Each
event features wines from one of the region’s top wineries expertly
paired with delectable dishes created by Chef Marc Mora and his
talented team.  Representatives from the vineyards will be on
hand to speak about the wines and answer your questions about the
pairings. 

 Take a ride in a custom snowcat en route to
Parallax restaurant in McCoy Station on Mammoth Mountain. An exploration of
unique selections from Long Shadows will be expertly paired with an
inventive five course meal. This dinner is an excellent way to explore Long
Shadow’s signature blends and varietals. 

Knowledgeable
representatives will be on hand to answer your questions and help
you fully understand and enjoy their wines and the night’s
pairings.

West Coast Invitational coming to Mammoth on May 4, 5

West Coast Invitational is back in Mammoth for the 11th year! This time the
biggest Spring contest in the world mixes it up with a rare late
season big air contest under the lights at Canyon Lodge.

The
first-of-its-kind format will team up a skier and snowboarder
together to work their way through the big air bracket as they
chase a piece of the $10,000 purse!

Not only can you watch the best skiers and snowboarders, but you
can be a part of the action in the Hike Park!

Adjacent to the main
stage of the big air jump will be a variety of rail features for
all abilities. Check out the Hike Park for free, get your picture
taken by a professional photographer and show it off to your
friends to prove you rode in the WCI!

After the contest, all you have to do for a nightcap is stroll
into Canyon Lodge, where the annual WCI concert will have you
partying to the sounds of Rye Rye, and wishing the snow season
would never end!

Heavenly and Kirkwood extend ski season in Lake Tahoe

Heavenly and Kirkwood are
extending the season at Heavenly and Kirkwood until April 29* and new
2012/13 passholders can ski the rest of the season for free.


Heavenly’s
original closing day was slated for April 15, but in an effort to
give even more value to existing and new passholders, they’re extending
the season into the weekends of April 20-22 and April 27-29, Fri-Sun
only.

Heavenly’s extended operation will include the Heavenly
Gondola, Tamarack Express and Dipper Express, with a limited expert-only
operation at Gunbarrel Express. Kirkwood plans to operate Chair #6,
Cornice Express, and Chair #10, Wagon Wheel.

New snow for last days at Snow Summit and Mountain High

They don’t call it SNOW Summit for nothing! The Big Bear resort got 14-16 inches of
powder Friday night and has the best snow coverage in So Cal with
the most open terrain. Enjoy the spring conditions these last couple of
days.

Snow Summit will be open through  at least Tuesday, April 17th.

Today will be Mountain High’s final day so come play in the snow one last time
before the 2011/12 winter season ends. The majority of the West Resort
is still open with terrific spring conditions plus there are plenty of
jumps and jibs to get your late-season shred on.

Tickets are just $45
for Adults and $25 for Children ages 7 to 12. Kids 6 and under ski FREE
when accompanied by a paying adult.

Please make sure you use any
remaining tickets, vouchers, points, 6-Packs, Quads, etc, (including
SNOWJAM) that you may have because they will expire at the end at the
end of the day today. (Do not sell your tickets in the parking lot)

Snow Summit expects several inches of new snow

Another storm with more FRESH SNOW is expected to hit Snow Summit today to make
this weekend amazing for some late-season skiing and riding. 
The Big Bear resort  got 1 to 2 inches of snow this week and is expecting several
more inches today and tomorrow.

Snow Summit is expected to remain open with fun and complete services
for the whole family, including snow sports school and all levels of
terrain, through at least April 15th. If today’s storm comes through as
forecast, there is a good chance they will stay open past Sunday.  The
final decision will be made by tomorrow.

Mountain High to reopen this weekend

Mountain
High Resort in Wrightwood just announced it will RE-OPEN this Saturday
and Sunday from 9 am to 4 pm.  Yesterday’s storm left the area with
four inches of new snow and forecasters are calling for another six
tomorrow meaning conditions could be exceptional this weekend.

Says
John McColly, VP of Sales and Marketing, “This will be the last hoorah
of the season so come and join us.  Please use any remaining tickets or
vouchers you may have because they will expire at the end of day
Sunday.”

The
majority of the West Resort will be open and discounted tickets will be
just $45 for Adults and $25 for Children ages 7 to 12.  Kids six and
under ski FREE when accompanied by a paying adult.

Neon Indian headlines Spring Fest 2012 at Mammoth Mountain

 

neon indian mammoth concertFrontman Alan Palomo brings his spacey chillwave synth-pop to Mammoth’s Spring Festival. Palomo’s music has received rave reviews across the
board since he first burst onto the scene a few years ago. His
band’s debut, Psychic Chasms, was awarded Best New Music
by Pitchfork Media, and Rolling Stone named them one of 2010’s
hottest new bands. 

 SpringFest runs April
20-22. The festival also features the infamous Mammoth Pond Skim at
Canyon Lodge along with world-class snowboarding events including
the Volcom Peanut Butter and Rail Jam Championships and the Active
Brodown Showdown.

Peeps herald spring and end of ski season at Bear Mountain and Mountain High

The end is nigh. Mountain High has closed for the regular season, but there is a spring storm rolling
in mid-week and they say they will definitely re-open this Friday, Saturday,
and Sunday if conditions permitted.

Bear Mountain has also closed for the season, though all Bear Mountain Only
season passes will be honored at Snow Summit for the rest of
this season.

Snow Summit expects to remain open with complete services for the entire
family, including snow sports school and all levels of terrain, through
at least April 15.
