SAL football canceled

Because of concerns of poor air quality due to the fires in the mountains, the San Andreas League has canceled its football schedule for Friday.

Games affected are Colton at Pacific, Cajon at Arroyo Valley and San Gorgonio at San Bernardino. The decision was made, according to Colton coach Harold Strauss, in a meeting between SAL athletic directors and principals Wednesday afternoon. The vote to cancel the games entirely, rather than pushing them back to Saturday or even Monday, was 5-1, with only Colton voting to play the slate. The games will not be made up.

San Bernardino schools, according to Arroyo Valley coach Tony DiThomas, have been out all week and contact between coaches and players, for practice and otherwise, has been prohibited. Colton, on the other hand, has been practicing indoors all week, though school will be canceled for Colton Thursday and Friday.
