December 2007 Archives
A solid 9-7 week over the holidays has me feeling fat and happy. Let's see if we can continue this trend.
I have two favorite times of year. One is March Madness, when I can immerse myself in basketball, brackets and gambling excess (nothing like being in Vegas during the first weekend of the tourney). The second is the bowl season, where every day from Dec. 20 to Jan. 3 or 4th is filled with at least one football game (pro or college) per day. I can't wait.
I stupidly forgot to pick Thursday's game, which stinks because I would have picked the Texans, so I'm getting this out of the way early. Hopefully I can build off a 10-6 week.
Here is the 2007 All-Citrus Belt League Football team, released Monday.
The Christian League has announced its fall sports all league teams. They are as follows:
Colton defensive end Damien Holmes, who verbally committed to UCLA in March, is taking his official visit to the campus this weekend. Despite the uncertainty of the head coaching situation after the firing of Karl Dorrell Dec. 3, Holmes remains firmly committed to the Bruins according to Colton coach Harold Strauss. Strauss also indicated that a final determination will be made after UCLA hires Dorrell's replacement.
I'm going to reserve my next high school rant until a later entry. I have too much to think about in my NFL picks, as I have been simply awful lately. Let's turn it around.
Before I go, I apologize for not picking the New England-Baltimore Monday night game. Maybe it was my god-awful 2-13 record on Thursday and Sunday that caused me to have amnesia, but it won't happen again.
The Packers didn't get me off to a very good start this week, but we'll see if we can't turn the tide a bit tomorrow.
My picks, a.k.a. The Word of Berka
In light of the constant debating/arguing over who is deserving to be in the BCS title game (is anyone?) here is my humble breakdown of the teams that most people will be discussing, in order of their BCS rank going into today.

T.J. Berka has been covering sports for The Sun since 2006. As a graduate of the University of Michigan, T.J. know good sports when he sees them - at least he thinks he does.
