It was an historical night for the Ken Hubbs Award on Monday night at Colton High School.
For the first time in the history of the award (which became the Ken Hubbs Award in 1973), there were female honorees.
Yucaipa's Kodi Lavrusky took home the inaugural girls award, while San Gorgonio's Ryan Hunter-Simms took home the boys award.

Yucaipa's Lavrusky commits to Stanford

Yucaipa star junior soccer player Kodi Lavrusky verbally committed to Stanford last week, according to a call received tonight from Thunderbirds soccer coach Sheila Huggins. Lavrusky is already the school's all-time leader in goals scored, having scored 92 after getting a hat trick in tonight's 4-1 victory over Redlands. She is a two-time All-Sun first-team pick, being named the Most Valuable Player as a freshman in 2009.
