Protecting Homes on Live Oak Canyon Drive

| | Comments (1)

My colleague Gina Tenorio and I headed out to Live Oak Canyon Drive where flames were threatening homes.

At about 9 p.m., firefighters from the west end of the county - Chino Valley, Rancho Cucamonga, Upland, Montclair and Ontario - were called in to protect homes around Live Oak Canyon Drive and Knoll View Drive, where flames were coming up Live Oak Canyon to within feet of homes.

A lack of vegetation and and the firefighters stopped the flames within minutes, said Ontario Battalion Chief Rob Elwell.

"That's why this house isn't burning right now - because of you guys," he told the firefighters.

They were standing under the deck of a home and facing the downward slope.
