Upland Jr. QB fields yet another offer
Upland quarterback Josh Nunes - who, as of Wednesday, is a year from being able to sign a letter of intent - received the third scholarship offer of his young career. Now on the list with last year's offers from Hawaii and Arizona is Colorado.
The 6-foot-4, 205-pound junior was offered by Colorado head coach Dan Hawkins via phone Wednesday morning. UCLA is a school Nunes is interested in and "would love to hear an offer from," according to Upland assistant coach Mike Esquivel.
Nunes completed 57 percent of his passes this season for 2,105 yards with 14 TD's and 5 interceptions.
Academics won't limit the two-year starter's options. The reigning co-MVP of the Baseline League sports a 4.5 GPA and scored a 1900 on his SAT.

Clay Fowler has been covering high school sports for six years in California and Texas. He was born in Dallas, attended the University of Texas and worked in Central Texas before joining the Daily Bulletin staff in 2006.

How does he have offers and not Richard Brehaut of Los Osos?? He has MUCH better stats than Nunes!!
Even though Brehaut isn't drawing early offers like Nunes, I think he's a prospect of similar caliber. College scouts certainly put some stock in the stats, but they're more focused on pure ability and athleticism with players as young and raw as these two. Speaking of raw, Brehaut didn't even play football before high school; He was a baseball player. When it's all said and done, they'll both have plenty of scholarship offers.
Brehaut has a stronger arm than Nunes, but Nunes is a little more accurate and has better touch. Nunes probably had a better line last season, which always helps but Brehaut is a better runner.
Scholarship offers this early from reputable Division I schools are rare, an indication of how good Nunes is. But it certainly isn't a slight on Brehaut.
