Good job Miller!!! The Mentone Wildcats have been brought down to earth. They were living on borrowed time. They were not that good. The only thing they have is Shrieve. Walker is nothing great. He wasted his time going to Mentone. He should have stayed in Rialto. Up next is the team from REDLANDS!!!!

You may want to rethink the Chaffey prediction.
Their win against Colony is being investigated for illegal activity involving a coach.
Not to mention a parent and player on colony handed the play sheet to chaffey. they didnt win because they are good. they won because they CHEAT!

Mentone has a football team? Thats funny, Miller #1 in the inland valley is an absolute joke. Once they play real teams from Orange County their true colors will show. I can name 15 teams off the top of my head in OC who would destroy AB Miller. Hey Rebel fans, enjoy the regular season because their playoff run WILL be short lived.

Except that Miller doesn't play OC teams in the playoffs. Duh.

WOW! Football.....is the Chino Hills High School vs. Ayala High School gonna be the game of the week on Nov 07,2008.....This game could be for Sierra League. Clay what are your thoughts. Mine our Bulldogs all the way.

I'll be writing some things later in the week on the Chino Hills-Ayala game. I think its going to be a great game and it obviously has huge implications.

Rancho Cucamonga is still ahead of Chino Hills? C'mon, Claytor! Live in the now.

Huskies all the way. People have been hating on them all year...and they keep on winning. Ayala should win..more experience,"coach of the week" blah...blah..blah. Ayala better win this year because the cupboard will be bare for the future.

What does Joe the Plumber think about the Chino Hills Ayala showdown you ask? Well Clay, one team really knows how to spread the wealth, and I'm not talking about Marxism here. Chino Hills has a balanced attack with no less than 5 guys with rushing touchdowns and another 7 that have scored through the air. I think comparatively speaking Ayala only has three guys scoring via either method. In the eight games played Chino Hills has rushed for about 1600 yards and passed for about 1000, whereas Ayala is about 1500 on the ground and only 500 through the air.

Defensively, I think Ayala matches up a little better, but “Massey Ratings” rates Chino Hills as the number one defense in the Sierra League as opposed to Ayala who ranks second. If you’ve never seen Chino Hills play defense, it’s a very quick, hard hitting squad with 11 men always flying to the football. Now Ayala’s defense has only allowed 12 points in their last three games and that is impressive, but let’s not forget, those games were against Chino, Diamond Bar and Damien. They still have not played the two strongest opponents on their schedule this season, Chino Hills and Glendora.

Now, on special teams, I’ll have to give a slight advantage to Ayala. It’s obvious that they pay special attention to this detail. You covered this fact in one of your earlier articles and anyone who reads your paper on Saturday mornings can see that this factors into almost every one of Ayala’s games this season. I think the Chino Hills coaching staff would be remiss not to thoroughly cover special teams in preparation for this game. If this showdown proves to be a close one, specials teams play may be the difference in the outcome of the game. That said though, I’m not predicting the game to be that close. Look for Chino Hills to win this one 38 – 21.

As far as the coaches go, I’ll simply say this: One is a true Maverick and the other is just a real smooth talker. Comparing their records in their first season as head coach speaks volumes.

Coach Tom Inglima has done a unbelievable job at 7-1 Ayala, although I personally don't care for his all his methods, I commend him for his results. Coach Derek Bub in his first year as a head coach, has surpassed all expectations, leading Chino Hills to a superb 8-0 start. Fridays' game is what high school football is all about. Good luck to both teams. Go Huskies!

When Inglima took over at Ayala they hired him a month before spring ball and the Bulldogs had not been in the playoffs in 3 years. They were 3-7, 2-8 and 3-7 before he took over. During the 0-10 year they were competative in some games and had played alot of sophmores. Those sophmores are now seniors and have experienced a league championship game last season. Bub took over a program he had coached in and a team that sent 4 or 5 players on to college. He knew the kids and the administration. As of a dry cupboard, their JV team is 9-0 and just shutout Chino Hills yesterday 14-0. Their JV defense hasnt given up a touchdown all league play. The cupboard is far from empty. But I am just one person who doesnt know anything. Let us keep our mouths shut and let the kids play it out.

What meathods are you referring to? His leadership retreats, or his leadership council, or his vision called The Bulldog Way in which he teaches his boys how to love themselves and all they encounter. Or are you referring to the Big Brother program they started in which the freshmen receive a Big Brother who teaches them The Bulldog Way. Or his efforts in the community. Yea, I can see why yoou would be opposed to all those "methods" since winning at ANY cost is probably what you value.

As far as defensve goes, Ayala had givven up only 12 points in 3 league games. Statistically they are the best defense going into this game. And s light edge on special teams shows how little you know abouot football. No one in the county does what Ayala does. Returns for positive yards or scores. Blocked kicks for scores or great field position. nearly 20 killed punts inside the opponents 15 yd, line. You need to get off your QB couch and go see each game before you give us your opinion.
