Alta Loma RB Abron completes transfer to Upland
Per this earlier blog entry, former Alta Loma High School running back Donta Abron has officially enrolled at Upland, confirmed by Upland assistant coach Mike Esquivel.
The 5-foot-8, 175-pound tailback, only a sophomore, rushed for 1,356 yards and seven touchdowns for a winless Alta Loma team last season. The second-team All-Inland Valley selection will join a backfield that graduated 57 percent of the rushing yardage from its 2009 CIF championship team. Upland head coach Tim Salter labeled Abron one of the best backs in the Baseline League.
This move probably hurts an Alta Loma program coming off an 0-10 season more than it helps Upland. Abron accounted for 80 percent of Alta Loma's rushing yardage and 55 percent of its total offense last season. Upland brings back starting running back Walkeem McDonald (72-452, 2 TDs) and leading rusher Cole Champman (86-513, 3 TDs), though they were two of many in the running back rotation as juniors. A year after going with the platoon approach to the rushing attack, it'll be interesting to see how much of the load Salter will allow Abron to carry.

Clay Fowler has been covering high school sports for six years in California and Texas. He was born in Dallas, attended the University of Texas and worked in Central Texas before joining the Daily Bulletin staff in 2006.

So Abron is going to Upland. Did he move? Is CIF going to ask why he left? Is Alta Loma going stand up for themselves? These are the questions in the world of high school recruiting. Next time, in this soap opera. Is Rice leaving Colony and WHY?
So much for sneaking over. It Does look fishy..lets see, Upland just wins CIF and Alta Loma loses every game. and Donta Abron is a very good football player.I know Alta Loma is good school academically,I guess everyone including CIF sees what is going on, If not I think we should all move our kids to a better athletic program for what ever our kid chooses.Basically all the schools are great in our area except at Alta Loma's football programso I see why the move. I wonder how many others are leaving AL for the same reason.
Rice, will leave Colony and be the head Coach @ Pomona High. He knows Martinez owns his a$$ in the Central Division or in any Division they would be opponents!!!
Runaway, Runaway, Runaway, exactly what he should do! Truth, if you want to eat tacos with me and chop this up it is cool ese!
Tu Sabes!!!!
Isn't Coach Salters on the CIF board? I guess you could forget about any investigations. No need to ask questions he probably has a good handle on it..
0-10 Remember
2-8 with a DC/Head Coach running the offense. Since he was a DC he installed the veer, based on his personell.
Martinez would coach circles around you Pomana Insider or your boy Rice and you know this man!!!!
Please state the facts, "Insider" then we can move along to watching weaker teams kick your a**. Rice has to do better than last year 6-4 record. You go CIF Champs. Big John Brown set the standard you have to live up too and he was a off-campus Coach.
JB.,JB.,JB.,JB., JB., "Who Built This House" JB.,JB.,
Tu Sabes!
You talk alot!! Lets leave the blogs out give me your contact info then we can talk! Stop hiding behind this blog. COWARD!!!!
Noone will say anything about the transfer. Upland has been stealing players for years. Just last year it was known that an upland lb from colony was using an illegall address and wasn't even cleared by cif. Colony and Damien was scared to report it. CIF Champs! If you aint cheating you aint winning!
Pomona Insider aka Mike Victor, I would love to get with you ese, I am not JB, I will have my own protection and I know not to turn my back to you. I see by these posts you like to stick people in the back. Let Momma know I said whats'up. I am hiding behind the same blogs you did P***. Answer the bell with the Coach @ Pomona that already called your P*** a$$ out.

Noah's Ark : Everything I need to know, I learned from Noah's Ark
ONE: Don't miss the boat.
TWO: Remember that we are all in the same boat!
THREE: Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.
FOUR: Stay fit. When you're 60 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.
FIVE: Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.
SIX: Build your future on high ground.
SEVEN: For safety's sake, travel in pairs.
EIGHT: Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.
NINE: When you're stressed, float awhile.
TEN: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.
ELEVEN: No matter the storm, when you are with God, there's always a rainbow waiting.
My instructions were to send this to the people that I wanted God to bless and I picked you.
Please pass this on to people you want to be blessed.
Give it!! Don't just get it.
Most people walk in and out of your life.......but FRIENDS leave footprints in your heart.
They also stick knives in your back ese. You just stated above a Utopian society, no wars and cumbaya. Instead of a footprint in your heart John Brown, how about a knife in your back from your so called brothers!
John Brown "Mashingon"
Sincerely,
Tony,
Tu Sabes!!!!!!
What do you mean Upland has been stealing players for years.. Coach Salter has been there close to 16 years. Just like Field of Dreams the Movie. " If you build it..They will Come" Can't be mad at a program who excels in Academics and Athletics.
Where is Brown to end up coaching at? Also, when is Rice officially leaving Colony? How many players is he going to take from Colony, Ganesha and Garey???
I still say if Upland will win CIF.But it will be because of there Defence. Not impressed with that Abron kid.Big power backs win big games.Just ask TOBY the beast from Stanford.
Dear Upland Supporter:
Don't deny Upland does not recruit. They do, just accept it. They have pictures and names on a wall of kids thet want. How did Hucthinson go from Colony to Upland then? He got recuited. To say Upland does not recruit is like saying all politicians are honest. Everyone knows the truth, quit blowing smoke, you are just making yourself look stupid!
His last name is Hutchins, with a scholly!!!!
Actually, Keith Hutchins was not recruited to Upland. That being said what do you all want to let him show him.
He was given no choice! Great Athelete with a Great Disposition! black people are scared??

Upland will not win CIF again.Just cause they got a transfer running back. They were lucky to slide in the 4th at birth spot. Salters is on the CIF board it didn't matter he was gonna be in the playoffs no matter what. He knows everybody on the CIF staff and I am sure very influental. Every year the Baseline league is always a challenga and you can say your team is gonna win cause your son plays for that team. So If your thinking Upland is gonna win think again they can recruit all they want but there will always be 3 teams in baseline that competes.
The Highlanders are a program. face it Anony. His influence had nothing to do with winning CIF! Recruiting, If you build it they will come!!
Who will be Rice's succesor @ Colony. I have heard two names mentioned Santiangelo and Bechtal. If Bechtal is smart he will hire Martinez away from Upland. Ese, you realize in 2 games. You scored no bueno!!! Bechtal better make a undela, undela, ariba hire on Martinez.
Santiangelo you better gear up your offense ese, or wind up like a div VIII team. This means you will finish 1st or 2nd in the competetive MT Baldy League. One and done in the playoffs!!!

Tu Sabes!!!!!!!!
palease!! upland cant compete with the big boys in the Pac-5 and will get demolished if they have to move to the inland division for playoffs. the only reason upland had a winning record last season was because they played a WEAK preseason. bloomington? AB Miller? WEAK.
Where did you get your info... Bechtal is in line to replace martinez at LO.what is all this man love for E.Martinez, anyone could coach outstanding athletes, he coached the same defense when he was at Mountain View... can you say loser, he goes to Colony (Athletes) then to Upland (Athletes) and now he is a master defensive guy... amazing Also, I heard the coach at ontario could be the guy to replace Rice..OHS coach has cif championships with La Habra.Lets fsce it Ontario is a very difficult place to win,ask Biaz.
Is Alta Loma going to do anything about Abron leaving? Does the coaching staff at Alta Loma care?
They better care. You were 0-10 last year and now you lost your best player and you don't say anything.. perception would be you are a push-over. They need to stand up to slater and the highlander clan...
Upland palyed Bloomington and AB Miller because nobody wanted to play them.I am so sick of people not giving Upland credit for winning CIF.When will you all face the facts.Upland has a good football program. And it all starts with the freshmen class. They will win there division again next year. The class of 2011 has more talent then the class of 2010.
Upland did get credit for winning they got the trophy and what not they had a good year. What seems to bother you is that Upland beat Osos which was good but couldn't beat Rancho (3) in a row. So the defense for upland was a little slow for Rancho, Rancho didn't get it done with Osos so you could call it a visious circle. can Baseline compete i the Inland Division? I hope we can find out. Every year brings different groups of talent, I just want to see the IE Kick some OC Butt.
Yes he moved
I.E. kicking some OC butt, that's not happening...OC is another world compared to the I.E.
Congratulations to Upland on their CIF Championship. If you come to the Inland Division, you better pack a lunch and bring a step latter.
Weak ass league!
So first Abron and NOW Christian Powell... I guess CIF is just like the NCAA. As long as you win, you can do whatever you want.
Yeah well that's two gone now. All Alta Loma has to do is work that much harder to become better. Both of them don't have anything to do with next season because if you look at the season last year, Alta Loma lost all the game even with them on the team so they may have lost with them this upcoming year. this will just open the Alta Loma team to more opportunities and will make Alta Loma a better program instead of being 1 dimensional. Because last year they revolved the whole team around those two instead of playing the others that were on the team such as returners from the year before.
Dang. That's just about the most messed up note I've heard today. But somehow, I'm not positive, myself.
