Two more Baseline coaches done: Alta Loma's Persell resigns, contract of Rancho's Amaya not renewed

Rancho Cucamonga baseball coach Chris Amaya coached his final game at the school on Tuesday just four days after Alta Loma's Ted Persell resigned. Following Rancho Cucamonga's 3-0 wild-card playoff loss to Yucaipa Tuesday, Amaya confirmed he was done after six years as the Cougars head coach but couldn't comment on the nature of his departure. The Daily Bulletin has confirmed that his contract was not renewed. Persell confirmed in an email to the Daily Bulletin that he had resigned and desired a break from coaching.

Amaya and Persell represent the second and third Baseline League baseball coaches who were employed at the beginning of the season but no longer hold their positions. Los Osos Dominick Copas was fired April 22 after a profanity-laced voice mail he left for a player several months ago was discovered. Etiwanda head baseball coach Shane Moses resigned following last season, the first of four Baseline League baseball coaches out of a job in less than a year.

I wonder why all these coaches are not coaching anymore. Is it the parents or adminstration?

Scared Mom said:

I hope it is the coaches but I think that these school's administrations let the parents run the show. From Little League to high school-nothing changes. Just let the boys play ball.

The biggest problem isn't the coaches, it's the
nasty parents who complain and cause all of the problems! Most of us parents who have been involved with school activities and volunteering for many many years make it a point to support our students and faculty and encourage them all !!
**Sad that the few parents who show up out of nowhere
and bring drama along with their personal agendas
cause so much chaos.**

It would be nice if we could have a file at the school for each one of these parents and discipline them
and make them behave.

Get a CLUE! People are just being VERY naive if they think a few parents can get a coach dismissed, there has to be a long pattern of inappropriate behavior in order for this to happen or a lapse in judgment by a coach. Anyone with any sense at all should be able to figure that out! Administrators are there to protect the kids no matter how much chaos it may cause.

Looks like YOU are the clueless person!
Our principals and administrators are doing a great job, and if you were involved, you too would see this!
New coaches will be brought in and the new season
will start on a high note.
Parents DO have a lot of say, and our leaders make sure
they listen to everyone. Alta Loma High School is a wonderful place for our children to attend, and they are well attended to.

Some people just can't handle stress. Sad, but maybe it will bring in more emotionally stable coaches, which is a great think for the boys.
