Bulldogs up on Oxy at the half

So far so good for the University of Redlands football team.

The No. 22 Bulldogs lead No. 24 Occidental 24-10 at the half at Patterson Field in Eagle Rock.

The Bulldogs and Dan Selway are throwing the ball up and down the field at will. Brendan Barkate, the team's leading receiver coming in, isn't playing because of an injury but that hasn't mattered as Brian Putman and Evan Reuter have picked up the slack. Each has seven catches with Putman's totaling 66 yards and Reuter's going for 100.

Putman has two touchdown receptions and Daylan Swedlow has a 1-yard TD run.

Oxy's only touchdown was the result of a Redlands turnover deep in their own territory.

The Bulldogs are looking to beat the Tigers for the first time in the last five meetings. They have had to play from behind and were victimized by their own mistakes. But this team looks poised and focused.

Redlands has 269 total yards. Oxy just 77.
