UCR's Hall honored by Big West

UC Riverside junior Chad Hall was named Big West Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week after his performance for the Highlanders at last weekend's Nevada Twilight Classic.

Hall won the 6k event in a meet record time of 19:49, 15 seconds ahead of the next runner. He won his third-career tournament while establishing a personal-best time in the 6k.

Hall, of Big Bear, also helped UCR finish just three points behind nationally ranked No. 1 Stanford in the team results.

This is Hall's fourth-career Big West Athlete of the Week award. He previously won the award on Oct. 1, 2008; Oct. 22, 2008; and Sept. 23, 2009.

The Highlanders next hit the trails to host the 30th Annual UC Riverside Cross Country Invitational at the Agricultural Operations Course on Sept. 18 beginning at 7:30 am in Riverside.
