Chris Pronger had no comment Friday about stepping on the shin of Vancouver's Ryan Kesler. He sure had one (per the Associated Press) on Saturday: "There is not a place for these types of instances in our game."
The NHL suspended Pronger for 8 games, the longest of his career and one which will keep him out of all but the final game of the regular season. If you didn't catch video of the incident, click here then click on the "Exhibit B" video.
More details to come in tomorrow's newspapers.
They don't play for two more nights, but go ahead and Long Beach Poly the girls Division I state basketball title now. San Bernardino County might have lost interest in the bracket when Poly bounced Miller, but it's hard to miss that Poly won its last five games – all in the playoffs, mind you – by scores of 87-58, 62-46, 74-27, 66-33 and 57-32.
Fellow Bay Area native turned UCLA guy Steve Lavin was calling the UCLA-Cal game today on ABC (which, if you missed it, is a damn shame).
