Manny to Dodgers: My reaction
Here's my question: Now that Manny Ramirez and Joe Torre are both in Chavez Ravine, doesn't ESPN have to offer 24-7 Dodgers coverage?
The Worldwide Leader is on the clock. My clock, at least.

I do not play golf.
I'm past the point in my life where I believe I can "pick up" golf and expect to enjoy it (let alone be good at it) for the rest of my life.
I write about golf. That's fun.
I also write about hockey. I notice there are a number of NHL players hosting or participating in charity golf tournaments this summer. It's sort of an annual tradition to raise money for charities of the players' choice. Great idea, no doubt.
But then I got to thinking about the overhead involved in playing golf - greens fees, clubs, and whatnot - and thought, wouldn't it be much more beneficial to the charity (as well as the player's own pocket) to hold a fundraiser surrounding a much CHEAPER sport?
It's not like golf is the only sport rich people play, after all. The rich play darts. The rich enjoy ping-pong. The rich can enjoy a game of H-O-R-S-E, right?
I went go-karting with Casey Mears yesterday at California Speedway as part of a media event, and that was a blast. Perhaps the "J.P. Hoornstra Charity Go-Karting Classic" is in order?
You have to click on "Olympic Games" on the left-hand side. This is COOL!
I'm impressed by the new splash page for the Ontario Reign.
Based on the history of local weather, it will be the only lightning you see all year.
Still, it's kind of cool to see this whole operation coming together. Eight players received qualifying offers last week, giving defenseman John Adams, center Brandon Benedict, left wing Scott Champagne, defenseman Michael Grenzy, defenseman Corey LeClair, defenseman David Schulz, center Max Taylor and goaltender Kris Tebbs the opportunity to become the first professional hockey player officially employed in the Inland Empire.
I love how the press release explains the business logistics of qualifying offers and free agents. And the history of the ECHL.
Learn it. Love it.
