That security guard looks familiar...

Should you notice a security guard working the front gate at tomorrow's AMA race at Glen Helen who looks just like retired Dodgers second baseman Jeff Kent ... it is Jeff Kent.

Turns out his father, Alan, is a retired police officer from Costa Mesa who is the head of security for the event. His son dabbled in motorcycle racing as a child before turning his full attention to baseball, and he is still quite passionate about the sport.

"I've been up and down those hills many times," said Kent, who grew up in Huntington Beach and also raced in Riverside as a young amateur.

Kent now lives in Austin and owns three motorcycle dealerships in Texas that have kept him busy. He actually took a turn in one of Friday's amateur races in-between security shifts and will be back out there tomorrow, with all the enthusiasm of a kid in a candy store.

Damn. It's too bad we missed him. I was going to ask him to wash my truck.
