A man who authorities allege drove a Hesperia woman to an area frequented by off-roaders and then raped her was ordered held over for trial during a hearing Tuesday in Victorville.
A judge ordered Michael Allan Thompson held over for trial after hearing evidence presented by prosecutors during a preliminary hearing in Victorville Superior Court, according to Deputy District Attorney Karen Michaels.
Thompson, 32, is accused of driving the 21-year-old victim to a rural area of Hesperia in February, where he reportedly raped the woman, slashed her throat and then beat her over the head with a rock, according to the Sheriff's Department.
The attack ended when Thompson allegedly heard approaching motorcycles. The woman was able to get to her feet and flagged them down for help, authorities reported.
Thompson faces charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, rape, oral copulation, and two counts of sexual penetration with a foreign object causing bodily injury, according to court records. However, Michaels said that more charges may be added.
