More plea bargains in Redlands home invasion robbery of disabled resident

Mirlohi, 21, and McGee, 22, pleaded guilty to the same charges of co-defendants Deshon Lamar Matthews, 15, and Ronn James Odom, 18, who earlier also took plea bargains, "because the investigation revealed there was varyinig levels of involvement by the defendants," Svare said Friday, via a brief telephone interview.

The four defendants are are charged with beating up and robbing 30-year-old Kile, who uses a wheelchair and cannot talk, when he opened his apartment door to someone requesting sugar on Apr. 22, 2007.

"It was a very sad and unfortunate crime," Svare said. But the case was solid through hard work from the Redlands Police Department and by community members who came forward to help, he said.

Mirlohi and McGee will each receive four years in state prison when they are sentenced Oct. 17.

Odom will receive six years in prison when he is sentenced Sept. 4. However, prosecutors may try to continue his sentencing to Oct. 17, so he can be sentenced with Mirlohi and McGee. Matthews was sentenced to three years in California Youth Authority in January.

Authorities reported, in earlier interviews, that Mirlohi had an Internet relationship with Kile and that Mirlohi's roommate, heard about it and hatched a plan for the robbery. Odom and Matthews were kids from the neighborhood who are also accused of taking part, prosecutors said.

When Kile opened the door, a group of masked men ran inside, according to police. One brandished a knife but never used it.

Kile was knocked from his wheelchair, beaten and kicked. The attackers ransacked his apartment and took home electronics and his wallet.
