Jury finds Aguirre guilty in death of Honey Jordan outside San Bernardino strip mall
A jury has found Hector Miguel Aguirre guilty on all counts and special allegations in the brutal carjacking and deadly shooting of Hannah Honey Jordan in a San Bernardino strip mall parking lot.
A court clerk read the jury's verdicts aloud during proceedings this afternoon in San Bernardino Superior Court.
Aguirre, 25, was found guilty of one count of murder and one count of carjacking, as well as several special allegations that he used a handgun while committing those crimes. Jurors received the case for deliberation on Aug, 28.
"Nothing can bring our beloved Honey back," said Jordan's husband, Dr. Kenneth Jordan, after the proceedings. "But seeing justice done is a great comfort to my family and our dear friends and to our community."
Aguirre attacked Jordan in the parking lot in front of a Highland Avenue doughnut shop on New Years Eve 2001.
Jordan, 54, was the wife of well-known, local neurologist Dr. Kenneth Jordan, who has worked at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton and is currently working at St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino. The couple were married for 31 years and had three children.
Aguirre faces a maximum of 50 years to life in state prison, when he is sentenced Oct. 20, said Deputy District Attorney Robert Bulloch. Earlier estimates had been higher when prosecutors sought gang charges in the initial phases of the case. But those charges were later removed, Bulloch said.
