A man pleaded no contest Thursday to 19 counts of perjury related to a voter fraud scam and was sentenced to three months in jail.

Joon Il Kim will serve his sentence in June, the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office said.

Prosecutors charged Kim with perjury in January 2008, alleging he circulated a petition to limit locations for Colton metal shredding facilities and then submitted it to the Registrar of Voters with false signatures.

A petition called the "Colton Metal Shredding Facility Approval and Site Control Act" was submitted in November 2005. Kim signed sections of the petition falsely declaring he circulated the petition and witnessed each signature, prosecutors said.

The Registrar of Voters determined 63 percent of the signatures were invalid. Authorities arrested Kim in Potomac, Md. and returned him to California.
