A mother and father charged with murder for the May death of their malnourished 2-year-old daughter pleaded not guilty to the charges this morning in Pomona Superior Court.

Lupe Lopez, 28, and Gabriel Garcia, 27, both of Pomona, were in custody during the brief arraignment. They both remain in custody in lieu of $1 million bail.

The parents are accused of allowing their 26-month-old daughter, Isabel Garcia, to starve to death. The girl weighed only 19 pounds when she died May 19.
