A 35-year-old Fontana woman was arrested this week for falsely telling police that she was the driver in a traffic collision, rather than her husband.

Maria Reynoso was booked in Central Detention Center in San Bernardino Tuesday on suspicion of felony auto insurance fraud. Bail was set at $25,000.

Her husband got into a car accident in July 2007 and called her to come to the scene because he did not speak English, according to a San Bernardino County District Attorney Office news release.

Reynoso, who arrived before police, told them she had been driving. The other driver assumed she was interpreting but discovered her lies during the claims process, investigators said.
