A 1988 Barstow shooting case that was initially ruled as self-defense was recently reopened, and sheriff's detectives today arrested a man.

David Loustaunau was taken into custody in Kingman, Az. San Bernardino County sheriff's investigators are planning to fly there on Saturday to interview him.

Loustaunau fatally shot 39-year-old Leroy Stracner on Oct. 20, 1988, at the victim's home in the 35000 block of Birch Street.

The District Attorney's Office back then ruled the death as self-defense.

Loustaunau, who used to date Stacner's then-girlfriend, apparently shot him after hearing that Stacner had fired a bullet into the ground that day when the couple argued.

No other details were immediately available.
