Sentencing delayed at least 3 months in Upland murder

Sentencing for Michael Terrell Moore, convicted of killing one man and nearly killing another in Upland last year, will be delayed at least three months.

Moore's defense attorneys say they are going to file a motion for a new trial in Moore's case, and attorney James Sprouse requested a transcript today of Moore's entire trial transcript.

The defense is scheduled to receive the transcripts Feb. 13 in West Valley Superior Court.

After that, attorneys in the case will file motions regarding Moore's request for a new trial, said Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Youngberg.

Moore, 22, of Pomona, was accused by prosecutors of shooting and killing 19-year-old Daniel Gonzalez and nearly killing another man in 2007. Prosecutors said Moore was motivated by an unpaid drug debt.

He faces a sentence of 81 years to life in prison.
