Today in court: Ontario woman accused of lewd act with 13-year-old boy
A 30-year-old Ontario woman accused of committing a lewd act with a 13-year-old autistic boy in her neighborhood appeared in West Valley Superior Court today.
Margarita Oropeza's hearing was a routine one, and nothing too noteworthy happened. Oropeza was in custody, wearing green jail-issued clothing indicating that she's in protective custody.
Attorneys in the case postponed the "pre-preliminary hearing" to Dec. 22.
Oropeza's defense attorney, Sherilyn McDonald, proclaimed her client's innocence in a brief interview after the hearing, then declined to answer additional questions.
She also told a news reporter not to approach Oropeza's husband or other supporters who attended the court hearing. There were about 10 people there in support of Oropeza.

ONTARIO - A 30-year- old woman accused of persuading a 13-year-old autistic boy to perform oral sex on her was arrested last week and charged with committing a lewd or lascivious act with a child.
Margarita Oropeza of Ontario lived next door to the De Anza Middle School student in the 1300 block of South Sultana Avenue, according to a police report attached to her court file.
About 11:45 a.m. on Oct. 21, the boy was walking around the front of his home, and Oropeza called over to him and asked him to come to her home, the boy told police.
The boy told police that he has known Oropeza for four years and attended her wedding.
Once he was in the home, the report said, Oropeza persuaded the boy to massage her feet for about two minutes. Afterward, she told him to come over the following day.
The boy told police he felt Oropeza had pressured him to massage her feet and felt he didn't have a choice but to do it.
On Oct. 22, the boy came home from school, dropped off his backpack and went to Oropeza 's home without telling his mother where he was going, he told police.
The boy told police what started as a foot massage escalated into oral sex because he felt obligated to comply with her wishes. He said he performed oral sex on Oropeza momentarily but stopped because he felt disgusted.
After the boy stopped, Oropeza and the boy heard someone enter through the front door of the home. Oropeza told the boy to hide in her bedroom closet so they wouldn't be seen together, he told police.
He went home a few minutes later after he was able to leave without being noticed by other people in the home.
As he left, Oropeza told the boy not to tell anyone about what had happened, according to the police report. The boy told police he was at Oropeza 's home that day for about 10 minutes.
After the boy returned home, he went into his room and began to do his homework. His mother told police she felt something was wrong with him, and she went into his room to talk to him.
The boy was making gagging motions. She said she worried he was sick. After she questioned him, he told her about what happened at Oropeza 's home, she told police.
When police investigators interviewed Oropeza on Oct. 28, she initially said that on Oct. 22 the boy came into her home and grabbed her breasts after she came out of the shower.
Under additional questioning from the officer, Oropeza admitted to the oral sex. She told police she did not plan the incident and blamed herself for letting it occur.
Oropeza pleaded not guilty to the charge in West Valley Superior Court on Oct. 31. The charge carries a prison sentence of three, six or eight years.
She is scheduled to appear again on Wednesday. She remains in custody at West Valley Detention Center in lieu of $100,000 bail.
