Jose Laguna, 23, is set to return to West Valley Superior Court today for the second day of testimony in his murder trial.

Prosecutors say Laguna emptied a revolver into a group of people on June 19, 2004 in the 9500 block of Helena Avenue in Montclair.

David Velez, 20, was killed. Two others were injured.

Following several days of jury selection, Deputy District Attorney Mike Dowd gave his opening statement on Thursday. Dowd then called to the witness stand a neighbor who witnessed the attack.

Dowd is set to call additional witnesses when the trial resumes at 10:30 this morning.
